New Egyptian president restores military authority

 

Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi has cancelled the Constitutional Court’s dissolution of the lower chamber of parliament with most seats taken by Islamists, spokesman of the president Yaser Ali said, ITAR-TASS reports.

Egypt will have parliamentary polls in 60 days after approval of the Constitution via a referendum. Voting is expected in late 2012.

The Constitutional Court considers election results of the lower chamber of parliament illegitimate. The Supreme Council of the Armed Forces insists on restoration of its lawmaking authority.
