EU to prioritize Brody-Plotsk Pipeline

The European Commission will consider the Eur0-Asian Oil Transportation Corridor as part of the Brody-Plotsk Oil Pipeline project, Trend cites Sergey Skripka, Director General of the project.

The transportation corridor joined the Eastern Partnership program of 2012-2013 in May. Improving its European status would provide additional financing. Poland would simplify permission procedures for the pipeline.

The corridor may become the basis for the Caspian – Black Sea – Baltic Sea transport space and will improve European energy security.

The Brody-Plotsk Pipeline is a priority of the infrastructure and environment program of the EU. About $177 million have been reserved for the project.

Ukrtransnafta (Ukraine) and PERN Przyjazn (Poland) formed the Sarmatia Company on July 12, 2004 to invite investments and build the Odessa-Brody Pipeline to Plotsk.

Construction of Odessa-Brody ended in May 2002. It is 674 km long with a pipeline radius of 1020 mm. It has a capacity of 9-14 million tons of oil annually.
