Russia and Kazakhstan have joint drills

 

The Koktal Range in the south-eastern part of Kazakhstan is having the Russian-Kazakh Aldaspan-2012 military drills, Trend reports.

The Aeromobile Forces of Kazakhstan, Russia’s “South” forces and a group from the Central Military District are taking part.

General_lieutenant Murat Maykeyev, Commander of the Kazakh Ground Forces, said that the main goal is to strengthen the CIS to maintain peace and stability of the regions.

Col. Kornely Babiy, Deputy Commander of the 41st Army, said that such training improves skills and develops operative compatibility.

The drills started on July 7. It consists of three stages. The military will train formation of block posts, airborne operations with helicopters.

The active phase of Aldaspan-2012 was set for July 12. Kazakh Defense Minister Adilbek Jaksybekov is expected to arrive to monitor the drills.
