Hollande prepares new bill on criminalization of Armenian Genocide denial

French President Francois Hollande is preparing a new bill on criminalization of denial of the Armenian Genocide, as stated on Saturday, News Georgia reports.

Hollande promised to pass such bill during his presidential campaign.

The bill was initially passed in late January 2012. Denial of the genocide was to be fined with €45,000. But the French Constitutional Court scrapped the bill, calling it unconstructive and a violation of the freedom of speech and communication. President Nicolas Sarkozy was the initiator of the bill and ordered the government to prepare a new one.
