New round of negotiations between EU and Iran scheduled for July 24


The next talks on the Iranian nuclear issue between the Deputy High
Representative for European Foreign and Security Policy, Helga Schmidt,
and Deputy Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Ali Baghiri,
will be held on 24 July in Istanbul, RIA Novosti reports, citing the
press service of EU diplomacy, Catherine Ashton.


The parties agreed to hold a meeting between Schmidt and Baghiri after
the talks in Istanbul between Iranian representatives and experts from
the six international mediators. The European and the Iranian sides
"have studied their positions on a number of technical issues" and
discussed in detail the proposals of the parties.

Participants of the last, third, round of the talks from the six
international powers on the Iranian nuclear program, which was held in
Moscow from June 18-19, agreed to continue the dialogue.
