Putin wants CIS integration boost

Russian President Vladimir Putin has attended the first session of the presidential commission for strategy of developing the fuel and energy complex and ecological security and urged Russian energy specialists to pay more attention to CIS states, RIA Novosti reports.

Russia is building the Kambaratinskaya dam-1 in Kyrgyzstan, a thermal power plant running on coal for autumn and winter.

The Russian leader reminded about privatization and noted that 25% of shares in fuel and energy belongs to foreign companies.

The president proposed distribution of federal oil and gas fields via auctions rather than competitions. Federal fields have over 70 million tons of oil and over 50 billion cubic meters of gas.

Putin called for better efficiency of dividend payments. He recommended Rosneft to consider the problem.

The new presidential commission was formed in mid-June to coordinate the fuel and energy complex. It is headed by the president. Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin is the secretary of the commission. He resigned as the vice- premier for industry and energy and became the company’s head.
