OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier said at a meeting with Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze that the Geneva talks are the only format for preventing conflicts in Georgia and tensions in the Caucasus.
Settling conflicts will strengthen stability and cooperation. Zannier wants improvement of refugees’ conditions.
Vashadze noted that Georgia wants restoration of the OSCE mission, opposed by Russia. The OSCE PA resolution is essential in this aspect, he adds.
Zannier held talks on the upcoming electoral campaign with the opposition, Trend reports. David Usupashvili, leader of the Republican Party of Georgia, a party of the Georgian Dream coalition, said that the OSCE chief was very well-informed about most of the problems in Georgia and with the pressure the coalition experiences. Usupashvili expressed hope that suppression of the opposition would be discussed by Zannier and the Georgian authorities.
