Fierce clashes between Turkish army soldiers and militants of the Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) are taking place in the city of Erzincan in eastern Anatolia, Trend reports.
It is reported that two terrorists were killed in a shootout; all the roads are closed in the city.
Meanwhile, the United States ambassador to Turkey, James Jeffrey, has once again stressed that the PKK terrorist organization is the common enemy of Turkey and his country, TRT reports.
Ambassador Jeffrey said the US is extending to Turkey whatever is possible in the way of assistance as part of its cooperation in the fight against terrorism.
Ambassador Jeffrey, who yesterday paid a courtesy visit to the Republican People's Party leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu, reaffirmed that the US is sharing all kinds of intelligence information with Turkey.
