Russia doubts realization of local cease-fire at some of the most dangerous parts of the country, Russian deputy representative to the UN Alexander Pankin said, RIA Novosti reports.
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad expressed readiness for cease-fire in some of the most risky regions, Pankin said after presentation of a report on Syria by Kofi Annan, special envoy of the UN and LAS.
Military operations in some Syrian area have stopped. International observers expect an end to violence in the nearest future.
Syrian representative Bashar Jafari said that implementation of the cease-fire regime should be gradual.
Annan said in Geneva after a video conference with the UN Security Council that al-Assad proposed a mediator for negotiations with opposition.
