South Russia officials to report to parliament on flood

Four functionaries responsible for the flood-hit zone in the Krasnodar Territory may be summoned to the Russian parliament. They include Governor of the Krasnodar Territory Alexander Tkachyov, Minister for Emergencies Vladimir Puchkov, Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika and head of the Russian Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin, RBC reports.

Sergey Obukhov, a member of the Russian Communist Party from Krasnodar Territory, said that a summon note has already been composed. He added that Tkachyov had ignored complaints about hydro facilities’ malfunctioning.

MPs will also ask why officials ignored illegal construction at rivers and digging that caused additional water flow. Obukhov says that the meeting may result in some functionaries losing jobs.
