Azerbaijan and Turkey may reconsider cooperation in social protection

Azerbaijan and Turkey may reconsider some points of the intergovernmental deal on cooperation in social protection, it was stated at a meeting of Salim Muslimov, Chairman of the State Fund for Social Protection of Azerbaijan, and the Turkish Minister for Labour and Social Protection, Faruk Celic, Trend reports.

The document was signed in 1998 and acknowledges the right of Azerbaijani workers in Turkey to a pension and vice versa. The states cooperate in combating illegal migration.

Turkish citizens are the majority in the individual registry of the Azerbaijani State Fund for Social Protection. Turkey has a share of 58.2% of foreigners from 94 states.

Celic added that Turkey has over 17,000 labour migrants from Azerbaijan. Turkey has over 700 Azerbaijani enterprises operating and expects more to open, 1news.az reports.
