The Turkish General Staff today issued a statement denying the previousstatement of Ankara that on June 22 a Turkish plane was shot down by theSyrian air defense, RIA Novosti reports.The F-4 Phantom disappeared over the Mediterranean, south-west ofHatay Province, not far from Syria's coast. Previously, Turkey insistedthat the plane was shot down in international air space by the Syriansecurity forces."As a result of the criminological investigation, the version about theaircraft being shot down by the air defense forces was proved invalid,"the Turkish statement reads.
