Georgia accuses Russia of militarization of Abkhazia and South Ossetia

The authorities in Tbilisi again accuses Russia of militarization of Abkhazia and South Ossetia and accumulation of military forces near Georgia's borders, Georgia Online reports. “Russia continues intensive militarization of the occupied territories of Georgia by rearming occupation troops with modern military equipment, including missile weapons,” the Foreign Ministry of Georgia says.

The statement states that on July 11 and 13, 2012, the commander of Ground Forces of Russia, Vladimir Chirkin, came to Abkhazia and South Ossetia (which Tbilisi considers to be Georgian territories) to “check” bases of the Russian armed forces and conducted consultations with the authorities of the independent republics.
