The Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia should react on time to attempts at socio-political destabilization in the country, Russian President Vladimir Putin said, RIA Novosti reports.
Special attention should be paid to Sochi, where the Olympic Games will be held, and Vladivostok, host of the APEC summit. Billions of rubles are spent on preparations for the events, the president noted.
The security services need to collect information, analyze it and make forecasts fast. Putin noted the high professional skills of another security service, the Federal Security Guard Service.
The president noted that escalating tensions all over the world require an updated strategy of national security, taking into account events in the Middle East, North Africa and Afghanistan.
Advanced technologies will be available in 30% of the forces in 3 years and in 70% in 5 years. Some models are fully provided now. A switch from conscription to contracted military service is planned for 2017. The number of contracted troops should reach 425,000, Putin says.
