UN Security Council prolongs observer mission in Syria

The UN Security Council has prolonged the period of presence of the international observers in Syria for 30 days, RIA Nosovti reports.

The envoy of Russia to the UN, Vitaly Churkin, said “Russia considers the decision on prolonging the observer mission in Syria for 30 days to be balanced.”

Earlier, Russia and China vetoed a proposed a Western resolution which contained a threat of new sanctions against Syria.
