Syria may use chemical weapons, should foreign military intervention happen, spokesman of the Syrian Foreign Ministry Jihad Maqdisi said on Monday, RIA Novosti reports.
The White House spokesman Jay Carney said that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad remained in control of the chemical arsenal.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak expressed concerns over the disorders in Syria, fearing that rebels may take hold of chemical weapons and pass them to terrorists.
