Head of Hajj company suspected of attempting mufti assassination

The Vakhitovsky District Court of Kazan detained Rustem Gataullin, CEO of Idel-Hajj, suspected of murdering former Deputy Mufti of Tatarstan Valiully Yakupov and attempting to murder Mufti Ildus Fayzov, RIA Novosti reports.

Gataullin will remain under arrest until September 19, 2012.

Ayrat Shakirov, Marat Kudakayev, Abdunazim Ataboyev and Murat Galeyev were arrested on Saturday.

Fayzov was injured in a car blast on July 19. Yakupov was shot dead at his house at about the same time. The police say that Fayzov took Idel-Hajj under control, which may be the cause for the murder attempt.
