Russia's Medvedev calls for land privatization

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev says it's high time to launch a land privatization programme, Russian news agency Interfax reports on Tuesday.

"We have always said that we cannot sell our land resources. However, it's now obvious that the result of this policy is degradation."

The prime minister also said that privatization will encourage growth of the construction industry.
