Turkish security forces killed 17 militants of the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in the Shemdilli area in Hakkari Province during a special operation, Sabah newspaper reported today.
It is reported that the security forces and militants continue exchanging fire.
The conflict between Turkey and the PKK has lasted for over 25 years. The PKK is recognised as a terrorist organisation by both the UN and the EU.
