The US Embassy in Dushanbe has expressed concerns about the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous District in Tajikistan, RIA Novosti reports.
Attacks on the group of Tolib Ayombekov started at Khorog on July 24 in response to the murder of General Abdullo Nazarov, head of a directorate of the State Committee for National Security. He was killed on July 21.
30 members of the group have been killed and 40 arrested. 8 of them come from Afghanistan. 12 law enforcers died and 23 were wounded. No civilians were injured.
The US embassy recommended Tajikistan to carry out clear investigations of the incidents and to respect the rights and freedom of people.
Internet providers say that Youtube was blocked in the country over the incident. Access to Asia Plus was also blocked on July 23.
