Uzbekistan has made its first attempts to improve ties with Turkey since the collapse of the USSR, Trend reports.
Uzbek President Islam Karimov sent a letter to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, delivered by Uzbek Ambassador Ulfat Kadyrov during a special dinner for foreign diplomats.
Kadyrov noted that Uzbekistan respects Erdogan and considers Turkey a brotherly nation. He added that Turkey had made great progress in political, economic and social development, becoming an example for many other states trying to build democratic statehood.
