Russian President Vladimir Putin has appointed Sergey Glaziev as his advisor to coordinate Eurasian integration in the Customs Union (CU) and the Single Economic Space of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, RIA Novosti reports.
Glaziev was the first deputy chairman of the committee for foreign economic relations of Russia and first deputy minister for foreign economic relations in 1991-1992. He was the minister for foreign economic relations in 1992-1993.
Glaziev became the corresponding member of the RAS in 2000, an academician in 2008. He became the deputy secretary general of the Eurasian Economic Society (EurAsEC) in November 2008, executive secretary of the Commission of the Customs Union on February 4, 2009.
