Four new ships to enter service at Russia’s Caspian Fleet

The Zelenodolsky Shipyard of Gorky will complete construction of two minor missile ships in 2013 and two more in 2014, RIA Novosti cites the director of the shipyard Rinat Mistakhov as saying.

Officials of the shipyard arrived in Astrakhan to prepare to put the “Dagestan” missile ship into service. It was built less than a week ago, armed with the Kalibr-NK missile complex.

Mistakhov reminded that they built the “Tatarstan” missile ship in 2003.

The ships currently being built have a water displacement of 750 tons, half of “Dagestan’s”, although equipped with the same weapons.
