Georgian Defense Minister Dmitri Shashkin today expressed his condolences over the death of Corporal Janis Voitkevich of the Latvian Armed Forces, the Ministry of Defence of Georgia said on Thursday.
Latvian Corporal participated in international exercises, which are taking place from July 16 to August 3 in Sachkhere. The Latvian soldiers mastered the skills to work in mountainous terrain, including the use of equipment and route planning and evacuation in Georgia.
The Corporal's state of health deteriorated on July 25 during a training exercise in Georgia.
He was immediately taken to hospital in Gori, and was transported to a hospital of U.S. forces in Germany on July 27, where he died.
