Russian assault ships of the Northern Fleet are due to arrive at the Syrian port of Tartus in the next few days, Interfax reports.
The Alexander Ostrakovsky, the Georgi Pobedonosets and the Kondopoga are the ships due to arrive. They will spend several days at the port to replenish their water and food reserves. Then they will head past the Dardanelles and the Bosphorus to the Black Sea and Novorossiysk.
