The head of the Russian Federal Migration Service, Konstantin
Romodanovsky, has been reappointed as the head of the service after it had
been subordinated to the government, the government website says, RIA Novosti reports.
In May 2012, Vladimir Putin ordered the Federal Migration Service and Russian Statistical Committee to be subordinated directly to the
government. Previously, the Federal Migration Service had been subordinated
to the Ministry of Interior.
Romadonovsky noted that the resubordination of the service does not
mean that the migration policy is getting tougher - it is connected to
the necessity to tackle new large-scale problems. Romodanovsky has
been working as the head of FMS since 2005.
