The new US Ambassador to Georgia will soon arrive to his place of service. American Embassy in Tbilisi published today the speech of the new US Ambassador in Georgia Richard Norland made when he was giving his oath.
“In 1993 I saw the most difficult period for this country. I was a member of the diplomatic corps that was gathered in Sukhumi by Edward Shevarnadze. Sukhumi was under attack and I was sad because of our impotence and because we could not stop the violence. It is more surprising now that I am coming to a country that has risen from the ashes, to a country full of life, with a young democracy, that has many economic and political challenges ahead of it, but whose dynamic people decided to move forward,” Richard Norland said.
