Afghan President Hamid Karzai and his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahmon have discussed security at the Afghan-Tajik border, ITAR-TASS reports.
The Center for Strategic Studies of the Tajik president said that about 400 to 1,000 armed people have gathered at the Tajik border.
It was the second telephone conversation of the two leaders in two weeks. The border between their states is 1400 km long.
A mass operation started in Badakhshan on July 24 after the murder of Tajik Intelligence Chief General Abdullo Nazarov. About 500 items, including weapons, grenades, mines and ammo, were given up by the militants. Police spokesman Mahmadullo Asadulloyev said that the operation will continue.
