Iranian hostages killed in Syria

Three of the 48 Iranian hostages, captured two days ago in the suburbs
of Damascus, were killed today during the attack of the Syrian army,
Reuters reported, citing the statement by the Syrian opposition.
Militants threaten to kill any remaining Iranian hostages, if the army
did not stop the shelling.
48 Iranians were captured on Saturday, August 4, on the road leading
from Damascus international airport in the capital of Syria. Iranian
government claims that the hostages are Shia pilgrims going to visit
Muslim shrines while Syrian opposition says that they are affiliated
with Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guard Corps and senton a mission to
Damascus to help the Syrian government crush the rebellion.
