Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili said at a session of the
Georgian National Security Council that Georgia is ready for
high-level negotiations with Russia on normalizing bilateral
relations, without any pre-conditions. But Saakashvili sees the
negotiations as decisive – Russia must leave South Ossetia and
Abkhazia.
According to Saakashvili, normalization can be understood as
returning 500,000 refugees to South Ossetia and Abkhazia and restoring
their citizenship. Russia is expected to leave the part of Georgian
territory it occupies.
