Program of Clinton's visit to Azerbaijan announced

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will arrive in Baku on July 4th, Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Philip H. Gordon said on Tuesday at a special briefing, Trend reports.

According to Gordon, Clinton will meet with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov. The Secretary of State will also have a chance to talk with young people about media freedom and other political participation issues. Clinton then proceeds to Yerevan later on July 4th, and on July 5th she will head on to Tbilisi.

"In the South Caucasus countries Secretary of State Clinton will have the opportunity to emphasize the importance of our bilateral relations with Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia, and to promote efforts to resolve regional conflicts and strengthen regional peace and stability", said Gordon.
