Republican Party does not nominate fellow party member in elections for mayor of Gyumri

The registration of candidates for elections to local
authorities to be held in Armenia on September 9 has ended today. The
current mayor of the second-largest city in Armenia - Gyumri - Vardan
Ghukasyan has not submitted the documents for registration, NEWS.am
reports.

The office of the mayor is claimed by the deputy of the "Prosperous
Armenia" party, Samvel Balasanyan, a member of the Dashnak party, and the deputy
chief of the financial and economic department of the regional
department of Chirac, Hovsep Simonian, as well as three independent candidates: entrepreneur A. Avetisyan, unemployed Rafael Asatryan and Spartak Petrosyan.
