Operations end in South Eastern Turkey

The Hakkari Governorship has just announced the end of military operations in the Semdinli district of the southeastern province, Hurriyet reports.

Operations started July 23 and have continued for the past 19 days.

An official statement defined the process as "careful and decisive" and stated that "many PKK militants have been rendered ineffective" as a result.

The governorship also thanked the people of Semdinli for their "patient" attitude.

Outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party, or the PKK, The PKK is recognized as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union.
