Azerbaijan sends humanitarian aid to Iran

A convoy of 25 vehicles sent by the Azerbaijani Ministry for Emergencies today is on its way to the earthquake-hit areas of Iran, Trend reports.

Humanitarian aid was provided by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. It includes 3,000 blankets, a thousand sleeping sets, 460 tents, flour, rice, tea, sugar, macaroni, oil, juices, water and other products.

300 people died and 2500 were injured in an earthquake in the Eastern-Azerbaijan Province in the north-western part of Iran on Saturday, Deputy Interior MinisterHasan Gaddami said.

The Geological Survey of Iran said that the earthquake had a magnitude of 6.3 points at 4.53 pm. Its center was 9.8 km deep 32 km away from Ahar. One quake was equivalent to 6 points and was registered near Varazkan at 5.04 pm. Other earthquakes were registered in Western Azerbaijan, Gilan, Zenjan and Ardebil.
