Iran says S-300 dispute with Russia 'exaggerated'

Iran believes that some media exaggerate the disputes over the failed S-300 deal with Russia were meant to cause tensions between the two states, spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry Ramin Mehmanparast said, RIA Novosti reports.

Iran filed a lawsuit against Russia to the International Arbitrary Court in Geneva worth $4 billion for cancelling the deal.

The two states signed the deal on sales of five S-300 PMU-1 complexes worth about $800 million to Iran in late 2007. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree to fulfill sanctions of the fourth resolution of the UNSC of June 9, 2010, banning sales of S-300 complexes, armored vehicles, combat planes, helicopters and ships to Iran.
