Georgia protests against destruction, renaming of villages in South Ossetia

The Georgian Foreign Ministry has urged the international society to react to recent information on plans of South Ossetia to destroy abandoned Georgian villages, Interfax reports.

The ministry urged co-chairs of the negotiations in Geneva to discuss the problem with Russia to cancel knocking down of houses at Georgian villages near Tskhinvali and renaming of residential areas.

The Georgian ministry says that there was ethnic cleansing during the war in August 2008.
