Argentina has decided to resume supplying rice to Iran after two decades, Iran News reports citing the agency ISNA. Supplies of high-quality Argentinian rice will start from next month.
Hector Alonso, head of the Association of Rice Producers in Argentina, commented that the first delivery of Argentinian rice amounting to 14 thousand tons will be sent to Iran on September 10, and a second one amounting to 16 thousand tons will be sent on October 10.
According to Hector Alonso, rice producers of the Argentinian province of Entre Rios worked hard and spent a lot of time in order to be able to resume supplies of rice to Iran, which had been terminated before by the decision of the U. S.
In Argentina, 1.4 million tons of rice is produced per year, and about 70% of this product is exported.
