Flag Day celebrated in the Russian Caucasus

"The Russian tricolor is one of the main symbols of the country that unites us in strengthening our country and protecting our national interests," the message says.

According to Kadyrov, the Russian flag is a symbol of the glory of many generations of Russians. "Not long ago a Russian flag repeatedly ascended at the Olympic Games in London. All Russians are proud of our athletes, including natives of Chechnya, who rose to the podium with the national flag in their hands. During such moments, we, the people of a great power, become closer to each other, proud of our country and the victories of its citizens," the head of Chechnya said.

"Today, the biggest Russian flag flies in the Chechen Republic. A canvas area of ​​150 square meters is on a flagpole at a height of 70 meters. I firmly believe that we should constantly remember our flag and the anthem. We need to love and respect them," the leader of the republic concluded.

He wished that "a sense of pride for our country and our flag" lived in the hearts of everyone.

In Krasnodar, there were Flag Day celebrations in Zhukov Park. There was a civil action "The Russian flag is a symbol of historical heritage of a great power," and in the evening a historical reconstruction of the events of the heroic past of the country began, according to YUGA. Looking back, National Flag Day in Russia, celebrated on August 22, was established on the basis of Presidential Decree 1714 of August 20, 1994, "On the Day of the State Flag of the Russian Federation."

On this day in 1991, the Supreme Soviet adopted a decree "On the official recognition and use of the national flag of the Russian Federation", which decided to consider the historical Russian flag - a flag of equal horizontal white, azure and scarlet bands – to be the official national flag of the Russian Federation, before establishing new state symbols of the Russian Federation by a special law.
