The Azerbaijani Embassy in Russia is monitoring investigation of the shootout at a mosque in Khasavyurt (Dagestan), spokesman of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Elman Abdullayev said, Trend reports.
Abdullayev said that he had unconfirmed information about one Azerbaijani citizen dead and three injured in the incident.
Chechen Leader Ramzan Kadyrov believes that the incident was to augment inter-Islamic tensions in the North Caucasus.
The shootout happened in Khasavyurt on August 18. Two unidentified gunmen entered a mosque on the Street of Magidov and opened random fire at people. 8 people were wounded.
