Knut Vollebaek, the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities, has urged South Ossetia to scrap the plans to knock abandoned Georgian villages of Tskhinvali down, RIA Novosti reports.
South Ossetia planned to knock down Tamarasheni, Kurta, Kekhvi, Achabeti and four other villages north of Tskhinvali. South Ossetian Minister for Construction and Architecture Anatoly Mashelkin said that preparations had started.
The OSCE commissioner reminded that the international humanitarian law forbids repressions against civilians and their property.
