At the end of next week, the UN Secretary-General will travel to Iran
to attend the 16th summit of the Non-Aligned Movement to be held in
Tehran, Rosbalt reports.
According to the UN News Centre, Ban Ki-Moon hopes to draw the
attention of the summit to the central issues on the agenda, in
particular, disarmament, conflict prevention and supporting countries
in the stage of political transformation.
In addition, the UN chief will meet with the leaders of Iran. He
intends to voice the concerns of the international community on issues
that require urgent attention in the interest of regional stability
and the prosperity of the people of Iran. He will talk about the Iranian
nuclear program, terrorism, human rights and conflict in Syria.
Ban Ki-moon will be in the Iranian capital for the first time
from August 29 to 31.
