Dagestani president comments on situation with FC Anji fans

The President of the Republic of Dagestan, Magomedsalam Magomedov made a statement about the events which had connected at a match with the participation of FC Anji and Dutch FC Alkmar, RIA-Novosti reports.

The president of Dagestan noted that the match was used by some forces to promote nationalistic ideas. He stressed that it was an "outrageous act for our multinational country". He said that people who did it chose to ignore "the fundamental values of Russian culture, the simple rules of human society trying to use every opportunity to drive a wedge between the peoples in the country, making sport a tool to achieve their quasi-political goals."

The president also recalled recent victories of Dagestani natives at the Olympics in London.
