48 Iranians kidnapped in Syria in early August are alive, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arabian and African Affairs Hosein Amir Abdollahian said, Trend reports.
The official said that kidnappers had not made any demands for the release.
Abdollahian said the Free Syrian Army was training at a neighbor state of Iran.
The kidnapped Iranians were members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, as the kidnappers believe. Three of them were reportedly killed in an air raid.
Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said that they were pilgrims and some of them were indeed former members of the corps.
