The 24th annual summit of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation organization (APEC) has kicked off in the city of Vladivostok in Russia's Far East, Radio Free Europe reports.
Leading officials and executives from 21 Pacific Rim member nations are attending the weeklong summit, which will look at issues like trade liberalization, economic integration, and food security.
The summit is the culmination of Russia's year-long presidency of the APEC forum.
