At least 9 soldiers and police officers were killed at Beytussebap of the Shirnak Province of Turkey at 10 pm on Sunday, Governor Vahdettin Ozkan said, RIA Novosti reports.

The clash with militants lasted for several hours. Over 20 militants were killed. The Kurdistan Workers’ Party has activated in the last days.

The Turkish conflict with the Kurdistan Workers' Party has been ongoing for about 30 years. The PKK demands independence. The conflict has resulted in deaths of over 30,000 people. The UN and the European Union recognize the PKK as a terrorist organization.
