OSCE MG to discuss pardoning of Safarov with Azerbaijani Foreign Minsiter

The OSCE Minsk Group, including ambassadors from the United States,
Russia and France, Robert Bradtke, Igor Popov and Jacques Faure, as
well as the personal representative of the OSCE Chairman, Ambassador
Andrzej Kasprzyk, will meet on 3 September with the Azerbaijani Foreign
Minister Elmar Mammadyarov. The purpose of this meeting, as well as of
talks held a day earlier with Armenian Foreign Minister Elmar Nalbandian, is to discuss the latest developments in the region and a
peaceful solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

With reference to the website of the OSCE Co-Chairs, 1news.az reports
that the OSCE MG members discussed the pardoning of Ramil Safarov, an
Azerbaijani officer, who was serving a life sentence in Hungary for
the murder of an Armenian officer in Budapest in 2004. They expressed
their deep concern about the recent events, which, in their opinion,
have damaged the peace process and the trust between the parties.
