US President Barack Obama believes that diplomacy is the best solution for the Iranian nuclear problem, as stated in the program of the Democratic Party published at a meeting in Charlotte, North Carolina on Monday night, RIA Novosti reports.
Obama and Vice President Joseph Biden will run for president on November 6.
The US president wants to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
The document states that when Obama came to power in early 2009 the international society had disputes over settling the problem in Iran.
Cooperating with European allies, Russia and China, the administration managed to pass harsher UN sanctions and set the basis for further financial and energy sanctions against Iran.
Mitt Romney condemned Obama’s policy towards Iran. He said at a meeting of the Republican Party in Florida last week that Iranian centrifuges continued enriching uranium despite constant negotiations. Romney emphasized that he would strike Iran and use force to cope with the problem.
