The Interior Ministry of Dagestan has published a profile of Rustam Aselderov, a 30-year old from Kalmykia (born in 1981), appointed by Doku Umarov, the Amir of Dagestani Emirate, as the new militant leader of the region.
The previous militant leader, 51-year old Ibragimhalil Daudov, was killed on February 14, 2012. Daudov became the militant chief after the death of Magomedali Vagabov in August 2010.
Aselderov was nicknamed Muhamadmukhtar. He lived at the Kadar Village of the Buynaksky District in Makhachkala at the Turist country house society. He was the leader of the Kadarskaya Group.
Aselderov was under trial for storage of guns and support of militants in 2007 and was freed of charge by the jury. He is responsible for racketeering, arsons and blasts of shops, attacks on police officers, murder of five hunters at the Karabudakhkentsky District and murder of four men in a forest at the Buynaksky District. He is capable of any violence.
