South Ossetian president promises to protect Russians in the republic

South Ossetian president Eduard Kokoity has made a promise to protect the rights of Russian citizens residing in the republic, RIA Novosti reports.

"I will protect the interests of the Russian citizens, who are participating in the restoration of the republic, but haven't received their salaries for months. And those who should pay just hide themselves in Russia," the Ossetian leader said, speaking at a meeting of the party "Edinstvo".

Kokoity also noted that Russia should have all the means to effectively control expenditure of the alloted funds.
