Threat of dam burst sees evacuations in Dagestan

Residents of the Russian North Caucasus republic of Dagestan have been evacuated after fears that a nearby dam could burst, Rosbalt reports.

Emergency services said heavy rains meant the Gedguhskoe reservoir in the Derbentsky district may burst.

Sixty people have been evacuated from the village of Zarechny.  More evacuations have not been ruled out.

Emergency services are at the scene and work is going on to try and eliminate the danger.
